Bishen Realm was created in 2001 as a cyber pet adoption agency that provided pre-made dragon graphics for web pages based on stories written by applying adopters. The site and its dragons grew and evolved over the years. At present, the site adopts out unique art for every stage of each Bishel dragon adopted, and the varieties of Bishel dragons continue to expand.

About the Artist
My name is Rachel Gratis (a.k.a. Indy or indyana). I live in Massachusetts in the United States of America. Most of my time is spent working as a Software Quality Assurance Engineer, which is a fancy way to say that I test software for a living. Some of my other hobbies include keeping a variety of pets, taking walks, and meditating. Online, I enjoy hanging out on DeviantArt, Facebook, and Google+, when I'm not doing some mindless surfing or working on dragon artwork.

DeviantArt is a social network for artists. Users can create a profile, upload and display their work, and connect with other users via forums, groups, comments, and messaging. I've used the site off and on since 2004, and while the sheer expanse of the site can often be overwhelming, it makes an excellent platform for any sort of artist community.
GetSimple Content Management System is a free and open-source PHP application that allows me to template and manage pages on Bishen Realm. After trying more advanced solutions like Drupal, Joomla, and WordPress, I decided to go with GetSimple CMS because it was so lightweight. It did exactly what I needed to do without extra overhead or database usage.
Siteground Web Hosting has hosted Bishen Realm since 2005. Unlike my previous hosting companies, which slowly cut out features and raised costs, Siteground has continually rolled out new programs and hosting improvements without drastic price increases. It just gets better and better!
